Centennial Steinway Art Case Restoration
A word from Anne Marino–the owner of this piano:
“When I first saw this Steinway, I could see, but not hear, the vast potential. After the restoration, it just took my breath away. It was so beautiful. But then Ed Tomlinson sat down and played it and the sound was so rich and full it brought tears to my eyes. I love this piano and the expert craftsmanship that Ed used in restoring it to its ‘new’ condition.”

Chickering Restoration
This restoration was a challenge. The action had brass flanges and I had to redesign the action to accommodate a new action flange. The second picture illustrates this perfectly. There is nothing more beautiful than a new set of properly hung hammers. The plate was stained and severely corroded. We replaced and refinished nearly everything. The sound board was just cleaned and still in great shape. The dampers were riddled with moth holes and then replaced. I changed this from a solid felt hammer rest rail to an individual cushioned rail to assist in a faster action. The strings were hand-tied. Overall, I am very pleased with the final result.
